Alice is a native of Scotland Neck, North Carolina and a graduate of Brawley High School. She is the widow of Elvin Alexander Hughes, Senior, founder of E. A. Hughes Funeral Home. Everard is a Norfolk native and graduate of Norview High School, Hampton University and John Tyler Community College's School of Mortuary Science (Magna Cum Laude).
A retired U. S. Army major, he is active in the community as follows: Tidewater Funeral Directors Association (Past President), Norfolk Funeral Directors & Embalmers Association (Past President), Tidewater Post 327 American Legion, Alpha Phi Lambda Chapter Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. (Past President), Board of Directors Southeastern Tidewater Opportunity Program (STOP), Board of Directors Bell-Diamond Apartment Complex, New Saint James Holiness Church Male Chorus, and New Saint James Holiness Church Inspirational Choir. Elvin Alexander Hughes, Junior

Elvin A. Hughes, Jr. is a native of Norfolk, VA and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. Elvin served twenty six years in the United States Air Force band program retiring at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant (E-8). He holds a music education degree from Norfolk State University (summa cum laude) and a funeral service degree from John Tyler Community College (summa cum laude). Elvin is a licensed funeral director and staff musician. He is also Minister of Music at Beulah Branch Family Fellowship, Hampton, VA.

Ty Alston Hughes

A native of Norfolk, Ty is a graduate of Granby High School, Class of 1984 and Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service (Atlanta, Georgia), Spring Class of 1997. He was Mass Fatality Incident Certified in 1997. He holds membership in the following organizations: Tidewater Funeral Directors Association,Vice President of Norfolk Funeral Directors and Embalmers Association, and member of the Virginia Morticians Association. A Notary Public for the Commonwealth of Virginia, he attends New Galilee Baptist Church (Chesapeake) under the leadership of Pastor Anderson O. Foreman, Jr.

Clayton H. Moseley
Funeral Director, Emeritus A native of Chesapeake, Clayton H. Moseley served his Resident Intern Apprenticeship with the late Elvin A. Hughes, Sr. in the early 1950's era. Since that time he has maintained a commensurable relationship with our firm even though he owned and operated his own firm, "C. H. Moseley Funeral Home". After closing his firm. he rejoined us until he retired from funeral service in 2004. Clayton retired after 50+ years in funeral service. We take this opportunity to thank and acknowledge Clayton H. Moseley for all he has done for us... professionally and personally. Enjoy your retirement!

Leroy Howard Filhiol, Jr. was a valued confidant, director's assitant and associate with our family firm since 1996. Despite battling several debilitating illnesses, Junnie, faithfully served our bereaved families until the day of his death. A renown regional gospel singer, he leaves behind his wife, Hope; daughters, Kersha and Keisha; son, Leroy,III; sisters, Joyce (Clifton, Sr.), Valerie, Colette, Janaf, and Velma (Cecil); brother, LeSalle; special aunt, Anna; and a host of loving family and friends. An irreplaceable void has been created... a position left unfilled. We shall forever honor his memory and revere his contributions. May assume his rightful spot as a "lead singer" in God's Heavenly Chior.
